Mackinac Island is getting ready for their busy season.
The island is one of Michigan’s top attractions and their opening day is this Friday, May 2.
Steph Castelein with the Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau said that the horses are back, the shops are opening, and large cleanup efforts after the ice storm have paid off because the paved areas are clear. She does have a bit of advice for you.
“If they’re looking to spend the night, I would start looking sooner rather than later and start booking earlier as some of those weekends and rooms will become unavailable,” Castelein said. “So just start planning now.”
Castelein also says despite disputes with the ferry service, everything is running as normal and they plan even on more rides this season.
