Three Chicago women are facing charges after a smash and grab robbery at the T-Mobile store in Lincoln Township on Sunday.
The Lincoln Township Police Department says officers were called to the store at 4878 Red Arrow Highway around 3:50 p.m. when the hold up alarm was sounded.
Upon arrival, the officers were given a description of the suspects and their vehicle. An area-wide broadcast was then issued. A short time later, a Berrien County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the suspect vehicle on westbound I-94 in New Buffalo Township. A chase then ensued, continuing into Porter County, Indiana, where the suspect vehicle was stopped by police using stop-sticks and a PIT maneuver.
There were no injuries in either the robbery or the chase. Officers recovered the stolen merchandise, which is estimated to be valued at more than $20,000.
The three suspects, all Chicago women, were taken to the Porter County Jail on charges including fleeing and eluding. They also face holds for charges in Berrien County, including fleeing and eluding and resisting and obstructing.
The Lincoln Township Police Department is seeking additional charges through the Berrien County Prosecutor’s office. It thanked the sheriff’s departments in Berrien and Porter counties for their help.
