President Donald Trump is set to make his first trip back to Michigan since winning the election next week.
Trump is set to speak at a rally in Macomb County to mark 100 days in office Tuesday. Congressman Bill Huizenga is glad to have Trump back. He says Trump’s frequent trips to Michigan show the state is significant in national politics.
“Michigan is still at the center of national politics,” Huizenga said. “We’ve had a lot of changes that have happened in the electorate and who’s voting for which party, and I think that’s going to continue to shift. And obviously the president knows the importance of Michigan manufacturing.”
Huizenga said he recently joked to JD Vance that administration officials come to Michigan so much that they should get Michigan driver’s licenses.
Huizenga said he hoped to hear Trump talk about securing the southern border, efforts to strengthen manufacturing, and the progress made to lower energy prices.
