Updating the story from this morning, we’ve learned that South Haven’s police chief, Dennis Honholt, has stepped down from his position.

City officials explained through a written statement that Honholt had not resigned from his role in Dover, Tennessee, before accepting the chief position in South Haven. When he was hired on April 1, it was understood that he would be dedicated to serving South Haven full-time. Today, the city accepted Honholt’s resignation.

With his resignation, the city is now tasked with finding a new police chief, marking the third change in leadership in just two months following Natalie Thompson’s retirement. City officials are currently looking to appoint an interim leader for the police department.
