More construction work slated to begin next week.
Michigan Department of Transportation will be working on eastbound I-94 between Paw Paw and Mattawan starting Monday, April 28.
Department’s Nick Schirripa tells us the project is for full-depth pavement repairs.
“Anybody who’s driven that stretch of I-94 knows it’s a little rough,” Schirripa says. “It can need some help. We’re not just patching potholes or filling cracks. We’re actually removing pavement, putting good pavement back in its place. So not a full reconstruct, but certainly a little bit more permanent than just patching a pothole or trying to fix delamination.”
Schirripa says there may be some congestion during morning commutes, as there will be single lane closures.
The project is expected to be complete by Friday, May 23, barring weather and contractor work.
