
Cheryl Ondrias, 59, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday, April 21, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with a concluding devotion by close family friend, Ernie Watson. Private burial will take place at a later date at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Memorial donations in Cheryl’s name may be made to The First Tee of Benton Harbor. Cheryl was born July 23, 1965 in St. Joseph to James & Marie Bergstrom. She graduated from Lakeshore High School Class of 1983 and earned an Associates Degree from Southwest Michigan College in Dowagiac. Cheryl was employed for a number of years for Berrien County Information Systems and also Zenith Data Systems. On September 16, 1995, she married David Ondrias at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph. For the last twenty-five years her passion was being a demonstrator for Stampin’Up, creating all kinds of different greeting cards.
Cheryl was an avid Chicago Bears Fan and cherished the time spent with her family and many friends. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing with Dave, tending to her gardens at home, spending time at the beach and on the boat, crafting, cooking, bird watching and just being outdoors in the sun. Cheryl was a member of St. John/St. Bernard Parish in Benton Harbor
Cheryl is survived by her father James Bergstrom of Stevensville; her husband Dave; their twin children, Grace (Matteus Isbrecht) Ondrias of Stevensville, Sam (Emily Bredin) Ondrias of St. Joseph; her mother-in-law Barbara Ondrias of Chesaning, MI; her sister-in-law & “Sissy” Julie (Ryan) Martin of Livonia, MI; brother-in-law Chris (Denise) Ondrias of Chesaning; nephews & niece-Branden Martin of Portland, OR, Hunter (Claire) Martin of Livonia, Ellie Ondrias of Chesaning; great-niece Isla Martin; her life-long friend Shelley Jasper of St. Joseph; a large extended family; and her feline companion Coco. She was preceded in death by her mother Marie Bergstrom in 2016, her father-in-law Clifford Ondrias, and her feline companions Hootie & Max.
