Charles L. “Chuck” Filibeck, 74, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

Chuck was born December 27, 1950 in Daggett, Michigan to Albert J. & Katherine A. Filibeck.  He graduated from Stephenson High School in Stephenson, MI, class of 1969 and went on to earn his Bachelors Degree from Central Michigan University in 1973.  After College, Chuck served in the US Peace Corp for four years in the Ivory Coast, West Africia teaching English as a second language.   In the early 1980’s Chuck met Howard “Skip” Jones, and on May 11, 2017, they were married in St. Joseph.  Chuck was employed as a Child Protective Services supervisor for the State of Michigan, working in Berrien County for thirty years, retiring in 2010.  Chuck was instrumental in the founding of the Children’s Advocacy Center in St. Joseph, served on the advisory committee for the Area Agency on Aging, and was a board member for the City of Benton Harbor Civil Service.  In his free time, Chuck enjoyed tending to his vegetable & flower gardens, his Koi pond at home and visiting the local casinos.  He was known as a jokester and for his keen sense of humor.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Chuck is survived by his spouse Skip Jones; three brothers-Albert “Shorty” (Ardeen) Filibeck of Albuquerque, NM, Donald (Sharon) Filibeck of Dublin, OH, Ricky (John LeBlanc) Filibeck of Rogers, MN; his niece Kathryn (Jim) Filibeck-Wagler, nephews-Christopher (Alicia) Filibeck & Michael Filibeck; great nephew & niece Zachary & Vyra Filibeck; and special friends-Frank James, John Bischak, Kay McNeil, Joan & Bob Broughton, Dawn Osgood & Connie Weaver.  He was preceded in death by his parents Albert & Katherine Filibeck.
