Cass County Clerk Register of Deeds Office is launching a new free service to protect Cass County residents against property fraud.

Cass County Clerk Register Monica McMichael tells us the county has partnered with Property Fraud Alert, a tool made to help citizens protect their homes, businesses, and other properties from suspicious activity.

“We’ve had quite a few phone calls, probably over the last five, six months, with the public requesting some sort of service,” McMichael says. “This is just one way that we can give our property owners some peace of mind so that we can alert them if anything happens.

As property fraud continues to become a growing issues, this new free alert system will notify residents if any fraudulent or suspicious activity occurs.

“What they do is they will enter their name or a business name, name of the trust, whatever their property is titled under, and our system will alert them by the method of their choice if anything is recorded under that name,” McMichael says.  “They can choose a phone call, a text message, or an email.”

You can sign up online at the Cass County Register website, visiting the Clerk/Register’s office, or calling 800-728-3858.
