State Representative Pat Outman, chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, is refuting part of Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s speech at the Detroit Economic Club this week in which she claimed the Republican roads plan recently passed by the state House would harm state programs.
Outman says Whitmer’s comments on the Republican House road plan are false. He wants to set the record straight that their plan will not affect funding for public safety or housing programs.
“We’ve been able to meet that target at $3.1 billion quite frankly, frankly quite easily without harming any sort of vital or essential services,” Outmamn said. “So it’s just it’s about getting back to basics and responsible budgeting.”
Outman says he believes there’s a compromise to be made, but adds the Democratic controlled Senate has failed to submit a plan of their own.
