Some chickens are dead following a barn fire in Allegan County on Monday.
South Haven Area Emergency Services says firefighters responded to 972 68th Street around 5:20 a.m. after a passerby reported the blaze.
SHAES and the responded the scene Ganges Township Fire Department and found the barn fully engulfed in flames. Water had to be shuttled in by tankers, and the two departments were able to protect a second barn from the flames.
SHAES says “many egg laying-chickens” were killed. No injuries were reported to any people.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
