The Michigan Department of Transportation is continuing its $9.1 million repair project on nearly 7 miles of US-12 next week.
MDOT’s Nick Schirripa tells us contractors will begin work at the intersection from the Gailen/Bertrand township line to Mayflower Road on Tuesday, April 15.
“Asphalt repaving, shoulder widening, we’re rebuilding some intersections, making some great improvements,” Schirripa says. “So stuff that will require lane closures, but we’ll remain open to traffic for the most part.”
After the road is resurfaced, there will be a culvert replacement, which is scheduled to begin later this summer.
“We’ll have lane closures throughout the project and the detour will go into effect only when we have the total closure for the culvert replacement,” Schirripa says. “Once we know those dates, we’ll let everyone know when it is coming.”
The project is expected to be completed by mid-September, depending on weather conditions and contractor timelines.
