The state of Michigan is getting a new dollar coin.
A new mint coin, called the American Innovation Michigan Dollar, was unveiled Tuesday that pays homage to the auto industry. U.S. Mint official liason Steve Bieda described the coin.
“It has a very robust depiction of an assembly line,” Bieda said. “There’s three cars coming down a row, kind of like a 1930s style automobile. There’s also some workers in there. But you see a progression in how each car is built upon as you would in an assembly line.”
Beida says the other side of the coin shows the Statue of Liberty.
