The Berrien County Road Department is actively working on several projects across the county in the coming weeks.
Road Department’s Adri Boone tells us that construction will begin on Warren Woods Road in Chikaming Township starting Monday, April 14.
“This is a continuation of the project that started on Warren Woods last year from Red Arrow Highway to the I-94 overpass,” Boone says. “Finished product will look just like it does to the west. It is looking to widen the roadway. It’s looking to address drainage structures throughout the scope of the work. With that being said, during construction, Warren Woods Road will be closed through traffic.”
While local traffic will be allowed, there will be a full closure later this summer when the culverts are being replaced. Completion of the work is expected by November, depending on weather conditions and contractor schedules.
In other road matters, Boone confirmed that the Coloma Road Bridge project was completed on schedule and no further work is needed on the bridge.
“The big wait period was the cure time for the material used to fill the bridge deck holes that were repaired,” Boone says. “So it was just making sure that that material was able to be strength tested to make sure it met the standards and requirements necessary to allow traffic to resume.”
As the weather warms up, construction crews will be out conducting work. Make sure to use caution and take detours when necessary.
