Republican U.S. Congressman John James has announced he’s running for governor in what seems to be an ever growing field of candidates.
James says the state of Michigan has been left behind.
“I am emotional about people who’ve been left behind,” James said. “I grew up in the city of Detroit and there are areas around the city of Detroit that still look the same way they did in the 80s. You always talk about how things are going, and forgive me if my passion is interpreted as anger, but I am very frustrated that after years and years of knowing what the answer is, which is investing in our people, it still hasn’t happened.”
State Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt is the only other Republican officially running to succeed Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who is term limited.
