A Wednesday night fire destroyed a mobile home and adjacent residential structure that was under construction in Arlington township in Van Buren County.
South Haven Area Emergency Services tells us Bangor Community Fire Department responded at 10:30 p.m. to the 48000 block of 38th Avenue.
Officials say when emergency crews arrived, the structures were already engulfed in flames and water had to be shuttled to the scene.
The two occupants of the trailer safely evacuated when they heard crackling noises and smelled smoke. They went to a neighbor’s home to alert the fire department. Two dogs in the trailer perished.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
