Congressman Bill Huizenga is hailing progress being made at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Battle Creek to improve its records keeping.

Huizenga toured the VA Center this week with VA Secretary Doug Collins and was told about efforts to get a new electronic records system in place after delays during the Biden administration. He says a new electronic records system is coming sooner than previously planned.

Secretary Collins had two good announcements, great announcements,” Huizenga said. “One was that he was expanding the number of VA facilities that were going to be having this new system rolled out. And he announced that they are moving that rollout up from the end of 2026 to April of 2026. So a year from now.”

Huizenga says Collins told him about a variety of records problems at the VA stemming from outdated and varied records systems now in use. He says Collins couldn’t even find out how many employees the VA has when he first started as secretary.

Huizenga asked us if the VA doesn’t know how many employees it has, how does it know who they’re serving?
