Student athlete have filed a federal lawsuit against the University of Michigan and former athletic department employee Watthew Weiss.

Weiss was federally indicted for accessing highly sensitive and personal data of thousands of athletes between 2015 and 2023.

Jonathan Marko is the attorney for many of the athletes. He said these sort of violations are happening all too often on university campuses.

U of M’s been rocked by scandal after scandal of horrible things happening to their student body, especially its student athletes,” Marko said.

Marko said Weiss allegedly accessed the iCloud accounts of the primarily female athletes, which included their photos.
