Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott reports that on March 27 at 2:45 pm, deputies were dispatched to Red Arrow Highway in front of Paw Paw High School for a report of a 2 car crash.

Initial calls stated that a female in one of the vehicles was unresponsive. Deputies, EMS and Fire arrived on scene and located 2 vehicles with heavy front-end damage and a female who was trapped in her car and not alert.  The Paw Paw Fire Department was able to safely extricate the female from her vehicle.  .

On scene investigation showed that the female was in a black sedan and heading eastbound on Red Arrow Highway.  The second vehicle, occupied by two males, aged 18 and 16 had just left Paw Paw High school and was traveling westbound on Red Arrow Highway.

Law enforcement said the preliminary investigation showed that the black sedan crossed over the center line and struck the second vehicle head on.  The collision caused both vehicles to spin around and face the opposite direction.

Red Arrow Highway was closed for approximately 1.5 hours while this crash was investigated and cleaned up.  The 51-year-old female was transported by Van Buren EMS to Bronson for treatment of serious injuries.  The 16- and 18-year-old males in the other vehicle were treated at the scene by EMS and released

This crash remains under investigation.
