Benton Charter Township Police report an arrest was made Thursday in the case of a shooting that happened on St. Patrick’s Day.
The arrest stems from an incident on Monday, March 17, when Benton Township Police were called just before 1 pm to Corewell Health Lakeland on reports of a gun shot victim receiving care at that facility.
After investigating, police learned the shooting reportedly occurred at 777 East Napier Avenue. The victim was identified as a 21-year-old Benton Harbor resident who had suffered a gun shot wound to the stomach.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to surgery for serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police say investigators quickly developed a suspect and started looking for the individual.
On Thursday, March 27, officers executed a search warrant in the 100 block of E. Britain. They found the suspect, a 42-year-old resident of Benton Harbor who was arrested and is being held at the Berrien County Jail pending arraignment.
