Lakers 120, Pacers 119 – LeBron James beats buzzer with tip to lift Lakers past Pacers and keep record streak alive
LeBron James had a buzzer-beating tip-in to cap a 10-point fourth quarter, Luka Doncic scored 34 points and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Indiana Pacers 120-119 on Wednesday night. James extended his NBA-record streak of 10 or more points to 1,283 games — barely. He was 0 for 6 with three points through the first three quarters. He finished with 13 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Doncic also had seven rebounds, seven assists and made six 3-pointers. Austin Reaves added 24 points as the Lakers snapped a three-game losing streak to move into a tie with Memphis for the fourth seed in the Western Conference. Bennedict Mathurin had 23 points to lead Indiana.

NBA – Bulls jersey that Jordan wore in preseason as a rookie goes for $4.215 million
An autographed Chicago Bulls jersey that Michael Jordan wore in a preseason game during his rookie year sold for $4.215 million at an auction that closed Wednesday. Sotheby’s billed it as the only game-worn photo-matched Jordan rookie jersey to publicly surface at an auction. Sotheby’s said a private collector made the winning bid. MeiGray stated that it believes this is the first jersey Jordan ever wore while playing in the NBA. MeiGray examined video footage from Jordan’s first NBA game while working with forensic analysis firm Proven Data. That first preseason game took place Oct. 5, 1984, in Peoria, Illinois.

Devils 5, Blackhawks 3 – Devils end 3-game losing streak with 5-3 win over the Blackhawks
Luke Hughes had three assists, Jesper Bratt chipped in with two and the New Jersey Devils ended their three-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night. Nathan Bastian, Timo Meier, Ondrej Palat, Dawson Mercer and Stefan Noesen scored for the Devils. Bratt has four assists in his last three games and a career-high 84 points this season. Jacob Markstrom made 21 saves. Nico Hischier extended his point streak to eight games with an assist on Noesen’s empty-net goal. Hischier has four goals and five assists since March 11. Tyler Bertuzzi, Ilya Mikheyev and Frank Nazar scored for Chicago, which has lost eight of their last 10. Spencer Knight stopped 15 shots.

NCAAMBB – Holloman knows his role, Spartans win without flashy statistics
Tre Holloman isn’t the star player on the Michigan State roster. He isn’t a starter. He’s averaging fewer than 10 points and hasn’t reached double figures in assists or rebounds in a game this season. At 6-foot-2, he’s not going to dominate the post. And, he is a 34.3% shooter from the 3-point line. He just wins games. In Michigan State’s last five games — the regular-season finale against Michigan, two Big Ten tournament games and two NCAA Tournament wins — he’s averaging 12.8 points, hitting 47.6% of his 3-pointers and averaging three assists to one turnover. A win against Ole Miss on Friday will put Michigan State into the Elite Eight for the first time since 2010, but it could mean so much more. With a victory, the Spartans will get a chance to watch Friday’s second game in Atlanta, with Auburn taking on Michigan. A Wolverines victory would set up the first NCAA Tournament meeting between Michigan and Michigan State and it would happen with a Final Four berth on the line.
NFL – NFL proposes moving touchback to 35 and making dynamic kickoff permanent
The NFL competition committee is recommending making the dynamic kickoff rule permanent and moving touchbacks to the 35-yard line in hopes of generating even more returns. The competition committee released several potential rule changes for 2025 on Wednesday, including an expansion of instant replay that will be considered next week at the league meetings. Any rule change must be approved by 24 out of 32 team owners. Teams submitted several proposals last week that also could be voted on at the league meetings, including banning the “tush push” and changing playoff seeding rules.
Tennis – Swiatek is given extra security at Miami Open after being verbally harassed
Iga Swiatek has been given extra security protection at the Miami Open after being verbally attacked during a practice session by a man who had sent the five-time Grand Slam champion harassing messages via social media. Swiatek’s team confirmed what happened in a statement Wednesday after the episode was first reported by BBC Sport. This comes a little more than a month after a stalker was removed from a match being played by 2021 U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu in Dubai. The No. 2-seeded Swiatek lost to Alexandra Eala in the quarterfinals in Miami on Wednesday.
