It could cost you more this year to go hunting or fishing.
Michigan residents who hunt and fish will be paying more for licenses if state lawmakers go along with Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s budget plan.
Records obtained by The Free Press through the state budget office show that deer hunting licenses would increase from $20 to $30 while a combination hunting and fishing license would increase by $39 going from $76 to $115. Fishing licenses would also go up from $26 to $40.
If you own a boat, you’re also likely going to be paying more as the proposal would see motorboat license fees increase anywhere from $10 to $350, depending on the size of the boat.
The governor is hoping to raise a total of $29 million from those higher fees.
