Homelessness is a big problem nationwide, but in the Grand Rapids area, a unique approach is being taken to help the homeless with medical care.
Catherine’s Health Center will launch a mobile health van this summer, according to CEO Megan Erskine.
“Along with medical services, we’re going to provide some addiction medicine,” Erskin said. “We’ll also provide some mental health services, some case management services, and then we’ll have a medical assistant along for the ride as well.”
Erskine says she expects other cities to try this approach, although she says Kalamazoo and Detroit already do.
