Thursday may be the first day of spring, but winter isn’t done in the Upper Peninsula just yet. They’re bracing for a winter storm in the central and eastern U.P., according to National Weather Service meteorologist Tara Dudzik in Marquette.

Some heavy snow,” Dudzik said. “Luckily with its southeast shift over the last 12 hours, the potential for freezing rain has been removed, but we still have an excess of heavy snowfall over our eastern counties, eastern portions of upper Michigan. Could get about 8 to 10 inches.”

Dudzik says the central U.P. could get up to 8 inches of snow. She says with winds, there could be power outages.
