It’s time to start planning your summer family vacation, but from the costs to keeping all generations happy, the logistics can be stressful.

Travel editor and expert Sarah Greaves-Gabbadon says points on credit cards, sky miles, and membership programs can help alleviate the financial burden. She adds cruise ships can satisfy everyone in the family.

Cruises are very, very popular now,” Greaves-Gabbadon said. “There are so many of them. So prices are pretty good. But think of it on a cruise ship, particularly on these mega ships, there’s a kid’s club, there’s babysitting, there’s a carousel, there’s the full service spa, there’s a rock climbing wall.”

Greeves-Gabbadon said to go to places where the dollar is strong, like Japan and Canada.

“Cool-cations” are also becoming popular in the summer, including trips to Scandinavia and other colder European countries.
