March is National Nutrition Month, but with high grocery prices, how do we stay healthy on a budget?
With egg and meat prices at an all-time high, it could be challenging to keep nutrition first. Everyone already knows to get plenty of fruits and vegetables in our diet. Katie Malice is a registered dietitian at Detroit Medical Center’s Harper University and has some more advice.
“Meats can be pretty expensive, but again, if you’re planning ahead, that can reduce waste,” Malice said. “You can buy leaner cuts of meat, which are a little bit healthy for you, in bulk.”
Malice says you can also utilize plant proteins, which tend to be more budget-friendly.
