One of the largest auto enthusiasts groups in the nation is applauding moves to scale back new emission rules.

SEMA, which represents the auto aftermarket, welcomes the EPA’s decision to take a look at rules that could require more EVs.

SEMA’s Karen Bailey-Chapman is also backing congressional efforts to take away California’s special waiver that has led it to ban the sales of new internal combustion vehicles after 2035.

California’s regulations don’t just impact California,” Bailey-Chapman said. “There are 11 other states that are impacted by California’s decision. That’s 40% of Americans that are gonna be affected by what California has decided.”

California is fighting any moves to take away its waiver. It has even worked out voluntary agreements with several carmakers.
