More single women are purchasing homes.
Single women are outpacing single men in home ownership, with single women owning more than 10.5 million homes compared to more than 8 million owned by single men. Jeanette Schneider with REMAX says there are important factors driving this trend.
“If we look at women are increasingly earning higher levels of education and higher levels of career success,” Schneider said. “So to some degree, it’s affording them, the finances to be able to buy homes maybe at a younger age and doing it before they find a spouse or a life partner. And for women, building wealth, investing in themselves is incredibly important.”
In 2024, women made up 20% of all home buyers.
