The finishing touches on the upgrades at Dickinson Park are well underway in preparation for the upcoming baseball and softball seasons.
St. Joseph Schools Superintendent Kristen Bawks reports that contractors have been able to work on the final details thanks to the recent nice weather.
“We’re working specifically right now on the baseball bullpens and the final grading for all the spectator areas,” Bawks says. “We anticipate things really coming to fruition following spring break.”
Contractors are collaborating with the city to complete the final grading in the spectator areas, monitor the growth of grass in the fields, apply wind screens, and install backstop padding. Additionally, taller fencing has been added in the outfield, introducing the new “Big Blue Monster.”
“We are closely monitoring that and working with our contractors, our coaches and athletic director about next steps,” Bawks says.
Bawks mentioned that there is no official date for when the park will be open and work will be completed.
