West Michigan business owners are growing uneasy over the economic uncertainty. The after effects of tariffs implemented by the federal government are rippling throughout the west Michigan economy.
In his latest survey, Grand Valley State University researcher Dr. Brian Long says the post-election euphoria is over.
“Some of our participants are growing increasingly uncertain about the future business environment,” Long said. “With the escalating on and off tariffs, the Michigan economy is especially vulnerable because of the tariff impact on the auto industry.”
Long says that millions of dollars worth of automotive parts cross the Ambassador Bridge between Windsor and Detroit every day and that upsets the business model for firms on both sides of the border.
