ND 55, Pitt 54 – Notre Dame escapes with 55-54 victory over Pittsburgh in 1st round of ACC Tournament
Nikita Konstantynovskyi scored with a tip-in in the final minute and Tae Davis hit 1 of 2 free throws with 0.5 seconds left after a controversial foul to help Notre Dame rally for a 55-54 victory over Pittsburgh in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. Tied at 54-all, Notre Dame inbounded with 19.2 seconds left. Markus Burton dribbled down the clock until about five seconds were left and drove to his right for a contested shot that came up short. Davis grabbed the offensive rebound, but his shot rolled off the rim as time expired. A foul was called on Zack Austin trying to prevent the putback and, after a review to see if the buzzer had sounded, Davis made the first of two free throws. He missed the second and Jaland Lowe’s three-quarter-court heave came up short. Davis had 11 points to lead Notre Dame. Konstantynovskyi totaled 10 points and nine rebounds. Burton had 10 points, four steals and six of the Irish’s 17 turnovers. The 12th-seeded Fighting Irish (15-17) will play No. 5 seed North Carolina in the second round on Wednesday.

NCAAMBB – Michigan State and Michigan could be headed for another showdown
No. 7 Michigan State is building momentum as March Madness beckons. No. 22 Michigan, meanwhile, seems to be taking a step or two back. And yet as the bitter rivals concluded one battle for Big Ten supremacy Sunday, they’re about to embark on another at this week’s conference tournament. The timing couldn’t be better for the Spartans, who have won seven straight, or the Wolverines, who have three straight and four of six. But even with a relatively parity behind the Spartans, its the two Michigan schools everyone will be watching in Indianapolis.
NCAAMBB – Purdue’s Braden Smith, Spartans’ Tom Izzo win top awards in Big Ten’s voting
Purdue’s Braden Smith was named the Big Ten player of the year and Michigan State’s Tom Izzo coach of the year by both the league’s coaches and the media in voting coordinated by the conference. Smith and Izzo won the same honors from The Associated Press. The coaches voted Penn State’s Ace Baldwin Jr. the defensive player of the year, Maryland’s Derik Queen the freshman of the year and Illinois’ Will Riley the sixth man of the year. The coaches’ All-Big Ten first team was made up of Smith, Queen, Nebraska’s Brice Williams, Purdue’s Trey Kaufman-Renn and Wisconsin’s John Tonje.

Golf – Tiger Woods says he ruptured his Achilles tendon, will miss the Masters
Tiger Woods is out with another injury. Woods says he ruptured his left Achilles tendon and had surgery Tuesday. He did not offer many details. But the injury will keep him out of the Masters and leaves in question whether he can play in any other major championship the rest of the year. Woods says he was ramping up his practice when he felt a pain in his left Achilles. He says it was determined to be a ruptured tendon. Woods says he had minimally invasive surgery. Those involve a smaller incision and lead to a shorter recovery time. But it’s typically a month until someone can even put weight on their foot.
NFL – Bills agree to sign edge rusher Joey Bosa to 1-year, $12.6 million contract
The Buffalo Bills have turned to Joey Bosa to fill their pass-rush needs. The team and Bosa agreed on a one-year, $12.6 million contract. That’s according to a person familiar with the deal who spoke to The Associated Press Tuesday night on condition of anonymity because the agreement won’t be official until Wednesday. Bosa joins the Bills after the team cut Von Miller on Sunday to free up salary-cap space. He was the NFL’s defensive rookie of the year in 2016 and has 72 career sacks. But his production has dwindled in recent years because of injuries.
