Some lawmakers are urging officials to keep biological males out of girls athletics.
There’s a federal directive prohibiting biological males from participating in female sports and compliance would be needed to continue to receive federal funding. State Representative Jason Wolford was one of the lawmakers who sent a letter to the Michigan High School Athletic Association to compel them to comply.
“We literally just said that we would like them to fall under, follow the law, the executive order 14168 that was issued by the president, and to not risk our kids not being able to play sports by potentially getting defunded by defying this order,” Woolford said.
Meanwhile, Wolford has introduced Michigan House bill to the same effect.
