Congressman Tim Walberg doesn’t want to see major energy projects derailed around the country without Congress having its say.
Walberg has introduced the Protecting International Pipelines for Energy Security, or PIPES, Act, which would prohibit sole executive authority for revoking permits for the construction or operation of cross-border energy infrastructure facilities. He says this is about protecting the nation’s energy economy.
“Previous administrations, like the Biden-Harris administration, have threatened the reliability of our energy supply while trying to fulfill the Green New Deal agenda,” Walberg said. “That’s why I’ve introduced the PIPES Act to prevent safe and essential pipelines, like Line 5, from being shut down without congressional approval.”
Walberg has been critical of the effort to shut down the Line 5 pipeline in the Straits of Mackinac. He serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources.
