
A study led by a Children’s Hospital of Michigan neonatologist shows pre term babies born after their mom received a single dose of steroid had a 1% increase in survival.
Dr. Sanjay Chawla, from Childrens Hospital of Michigan and a Central Michigan University professor, says that some women at risk of pre term delivery don’t have easy access.
“Sometimes women, they have difficulty in accessing the health care system,” Chawla said. “They may not have prenatal care. They may just come to the hospital and just before delivery. So if they have good access to health care system, it allows health care providers to see them regularly in the clinic and provide them counseling.”
