A non-profit geared towards men’s health in Metro Detroit is going statewide.

It’s been the MIU Men’s Health Foundation since 2009, and it will now be called the Michigan Men’s Health Foundation. President and CEO Dr. Michael Lutz says they want to have an impact by providing opportunities for men to get health screenings, education, and resources.

We look at the majority of malignancies that occur, particularly within men, many of them are linked to obesity and poor diets as well as to poor lifestyle behavior patterns,” Lutz said. “So if we can get men to be a little bit more understanding of what they need to do and make it part of their normal behavior patterns, I think we can improve the overall health of men within our communities.”

Lutz says he looks forward to partnering with the governor’s office in creating a statewide men’s health campaign.
