Trip Advisor has named the best beaches in the world and one Michigan beach, Oval Beach on Lake Michigan, has made the list.
Saugatuck-Douglas Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Director Lisa Mize doesn’t mind if they get more people visiting.
“I think that would be fabulous, especially for someone who’s never been there,” Mize said. “If you’ve never seen, I’m always amazed people drive up from Indianapolis and Nashville and they’ve never seen Lake Michigan. So it’s the first thing we tell them to do. ‘You’ve got to see the lake,’ because they’re expecting to see a small inland lake. They don’t realize that Lake Michigan looks like an ocean.”
Mize says Saugatuck also has wonderful wineries, shops, and restaurants to offer.
Among the other best beaches — Thailand’s Banana Beach and Aruba’s Eagle Beach. The top beach, according to Trip Advisor, is Elafonissi Beach in Greece.
