A marching band from Michigan has traveled across the world for a once in a lifetime performance. The Holly High School Bronco Marching Band planned this trip for two years, sending 70 students to Italy and perform on New Year’s Day at the St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, including in front of Pope Francis. Band Director Ben Baldwin says they requested American songs for the crowds to enjoy.

Hand Clap and Since You’ve Been Gone, we did a little bit of Rick Astley,” Baldwin said. “We did some Motown. We performed My Girl. We did our fight song.”

Baldwin was asked if the band rickrolled the Pope.

OK. I’m gonna admit it. We were playing Never Gonna Give You Up, but I think in our defense, the crowd loved it.”

It was a once in a lifetime performance those 70 students will never forget.
