This Saturday South Haven residents can give back and donate to a great cause at the 24th annual Island Sit. COSY’s Paul Layendecker tells us the event is a culmination of a month-long events, part of Warm Your Heart month.
“These dollars go to help direct need,” Layendecker says. “So if somebody is having issues with their heat bill, they would contact We Care. We Care would help them locate organizations that could help pay that bill and even help pay the bill.”
Starting at 9 am, Layendecker, along with volunteers, will be at the welcome circle downtown South Haven to collect funds for the We Care organization, with a goal of reaching $40,000.
“We’ve raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years for people in need, for the great services that are provided by the We Care Community Resource Center in Southaven,” Layendecker says.
People can donate coins, bills, checks or any other donation to help the cause. The event will go until 5 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
