Get ready and put on your boots, as the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the upcoming days. NWS meteorologist Kyle Brown tells us that the most challenging times for commuters will be Wednesday evening and Thursday morning due to expected snowfall.

“The day will more likely begin dry tomorrow, but then as we head into that noon and early afternoon, that’s when we do expect some snow to move into the area,” Brown says. “That will impact the evening commute primarily, and then we are expecting the snow to persist through much of Wednesday night.”

Snowfall amounts are anticipated to reach around 4 inches, with the possibility of up to 8 inches. Brown says that while this is a low-pressure system now, the situation could evolve over the weekend with additional snow showers forecasted from Friday night into Saturday.

“For the weekend, it looks like there could be a mix of both system snow, as we might say, and then maybe some lake effect in there as well,” Brown says.

The Winter Storm watch will be in effect from 1 p.m. on Wednesday until Thursday morning.
