Michigan State University is taking new steps to prepare their graduates for the workforce and to retain top talent here in Michigan.

The Green and White Council is made up of 16 business leaders and professors that cover a wide range of expertise. MSU President Kevin Guskiewicz says being on the forefront of technological advancements is imperative.

We’re creating a new center here, our Engineering and Digital Innovation Center, which is going to bring six of our colleges here at Michigan State together to think about how we can best do that, requiring students to take courses that intersect with AI and machine learning so that they can be better prepared,” Guskiewicz said. “You can’t train engineers in the same way that we used to.”

Guskiewicz says the goal is to prepare students for an evolving workforce by engaging the leaders of top industries.

The council co-chairs are former Bank of America Michigan President Matt Elliott and College of Business Dean Emeritus and Professor Sanjay Gupta.
