
Albert “Boonie” Grady, Jr., 94, of Cassopolis, died peacefully, early Friday morning, February 7, 2025, in the comfort of his family’s presence. His life began September 7, 1930 in Dowagiac, the first of two children born to Albert Grady Sr. and Genevieve Peavy.
Boonie graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army as military police officer from 1952-1954. He retired from Clarks Equipment in Benton Harbor after twenty-eight years, where he worked as a welder and a supervisor. Boonie loved to spend his time outdoors hunting, fishing and gardening. He was an avid gun collector and a master at yard sales, where he could really stretch a dollar. In 2002 he purchases a cottage in Baldwin Michigan where he enjoyed spending time in the summer until a momma bear spooked him. You could often find Boonie sitting with his group of friends at McDonalds in Cassopolis.
Albert will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by daughters, Cathy (Larry) Ash of Plainwell, Vicki (Earl) Richardson of Kalamazoo, Tracy Huddleston of Benton Harbor; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons, Jimmy and Danny Grady; sister, Barbara Evans; grandsons, Earl Richardson II and Charles Ray Johnson.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac.
