Tariffs against Mexico and Canada are still on hold, but there’s still been lots of buzz down by the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit.
Among the Canadian truckers who cross the border for their jobs, there appears to be some uncertainty regarding whether tariffs on exports from their country will hurt jobs in Canada.
Robert is the owner of A&L Ham Palace near the Ambassador Bridge, a very popular diner and a stop for Canadian truckers. He says some of the Canadian truckers are confused.
“Some of them talk good, some of them talk bad,” Robert said. “Obviously, things are going to get tight until they figure out what exactly is going on and the heads of state get together and make things right, but things need to be done. Sometimes you’ve got to break some eggs to make an omelet.”
The tariffs are on pause for 30 days, but what happens after those 30 days? It’s anybody’s guess.
