A Niles man is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Cass County over the weekend.
According to law enforcement, on Friday night just after 8 pm, the Cass County Sheriff’s office was called to the intersection of Bell Street and Ironwood Drive in Milton Township. That’s where police say a vehicle driven by 60-year-old Michael Jasper of Niles left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
Jasper was transported first to Niles Lakeland Hospital and then South Bend Memorial. Authorities say unfortunately, efforts to save him were unsuccessful.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway. Law enforcement say Jasper was not wearing a seatbelt.
