Suspect arraigned after drugs/firearm bust in Benton Harbor

A six-month investigation stretching across Southwest Michigan has led to the arrest of a Benton Harbor man for charges of possessing crack cocaine, drug distribution, and illegally-obtained firearms in Benton Harbor. 

Michigan State Police issued a statement Wednesday that while serving a search warrant back on January 16 in the 100 Block of East Britain Avenue in Benton Harbor, Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) detectives, along with the Berrien County Sheriff Office, and Michigan State Police located and seized approximately a half ounce of crack cocaine and drug distribution paraphernalia.

During the search, police say two handguns and several rounds of ammunition were located and seized. One of the handguns was listed as a stolen firearm from Kalamazoo County.

Arrested at the scene was 54-year-old Terrence Odell Howard of the Benton Harbor area. Howard has been arraigned in 5th District Court on possession with the intent to deliver crack cocaine 2nd offense, maintaining a drug house 2nd offense, felony firearm and felon in possession of ammunition charges.
