The newest U.S. Senator representing Michigan had an open house in her new office this week.

Senator Elissa Slotkin says after hearing from so many Michiganders about accessibility, she decided to place her headquarters in the heart of downtown Detroit. She explained in front of dozens of local leaders the office will be used to help everyday people.

One of the things that we do that’s unique is if you or your organization or your unit of government is trying to get a federal grant, not only will we send a cover letter and say we endorse getting this money, but we have someone on staff, Maria, who all she does is help people understand which federal grants they’re eligible for,” Slotkin said.

Slotkin just took office as a senator, replacing retired U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow.

Prior to being elected as senator last year, Slotkin served as the U.S. representative for Michigan’s 7th congressional district from 2019 to 2025.
