Michigan State Police are looking for some new recruits.

Michigan State Police Director Colonel James Grady II says they need to beef up the ranks because they’re losing people to attrition.

We want to make sure that we fill those vacancies as they leave out, and so, yes, we’ve lost hundreds of members,” Grady said. “We’re going to lose a couple hundred more here, and I want to make sure that we fill in those vacancies with promising troopers that can get out and keep the state of Michigan safe.”

Grady says they don’t just need troopers, they also need civilian help, forensic scientists, 911 dispatchers, and administrative support.

Two recruiting events are coming up, one in Flint February 6 and one in Grand Rapids January 30.
