Man charged in Lincoln Township mobile home fire

Criminal charges have now been filed in a Sunday mobile home fire in Lincoln Township.

The Lincoln Township Police Department announced Tuesday a 51-year-old Benton Township man is now being charged in connection with the fire at 604 West John Beers Road. The Lincoln Township Fire Department responded to the scene around 5:25 a.m. and found a detached shed engulfed in flames with the fire spreading to the adjacent home.

Firefighters were able to put the fire out, leaving the home with some exterior damage but no injuries to the family inside. They were all safely evacuated.

The suspect from Benton Township was arrested following an investigation. He’s now in the Berrien County Jail. No further details have yet been released, and police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them.

The Lincoln Township Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Royalton Township Fire Department and the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety.
