There is now an uncertain future for thousands of Michigan diversity, equity, and inclusion professionals.
President Donald Trump has signed an executive order putting all federal DEI workers on paid leave. The largest companies and universities in the U.S. are also getting rid of DEI initiatives.
Michigan hiring specialist CJ Eason says some DEI professionals in Michigan are being let go, while others are moved.
“We are seeing a lot of individuals that were not prepared being cut back because those departments are being sizably cut,” Eason said. “Those physicians are being cut or you’re being asked, what other skill do you have?”
President Trump made it a campaign promise to eliminate DEI programs.
