Dry skin is a problem for us every winter, but these bone-chilling temps have made it even worse.

Dr. Asha Shajahan with Corewell Health recommends moisturizer and covering your skin.

You want to apply something that’s like a thickened cream and that’s hydrating,” Shajahan said. “So look for if it has hyaluronic acid in it, and the thicker, the better. But that’s kind of to help out with that dry cracked skin and also for prevention. Also when you go outside, if you wear gloves and hats and scarves that cover your face and your hands, that’s also very helpful.”

Shajahan says cold air holds less moisture, causing our skin to lose hydration.
