Zyn has become the first nicotine pouch to be authorized by the FDA.
The FDA has authorized the sale of 10 Zyn flavors, including mint, menthol, and coffee, saying the nicotine pouches help adults looking to quit smoking.
Tanya Salimnia is a pulmonary physician at the Detroit Medical Center and says Zyn is not a good way to quit smoking. She suggests trying another method.
“Instead of turning to vaping, Juuls, or Naloxone packets, there are actual medications that have been very successful in helping patients quit smoking altogether. These are prescribed medications that can be given to you by your primary care doctor, your family medicine doctor, by your primary care doctor, or your pulmonologist.”
Nicotine pouches are the fastest-growing part of the U.S. tobacco market.
