Southwest Michigan residents will need to get ready to brace the frigid cold temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
According to National Weather Service meteorologist Michael Skipper, wind chills will get as low as 23 degrees below zero over the next two days.
“We still keep some really cold wind chills all the way through tomorrow afternoon,” Skipper says. “We’re holding close to 20 below zero through Tuesday night to Wednesday morning. We’re looking at a sustained really cold wind chill. From now it’s probably about a 48-hour window. It’s not going to improve much.”
Skipper says in addition to low temperatures, lake effect snow showers will continue through Wednesday.
“As for the amount, up to like 6 or 7 tenths tonight,” Skipper says. “And then at night we’re still looking at another inch of snow, about 2 tenths near the Michigan border and up to an inch up in Paw Paw.”
The NWS has issued a cold weather advisory and a winter weather advisory, which are both in effect until midnight Wednesday.
